perhaps enter patterns in the spectralis quickly... you know groovin with the beats.. and then you can fine tune them in the RS with the big display and fine tuning things it allows you to do with MIDI. THe RS might be a nice hardware place to record and chop up/fine tune samples then you can load them to the speck, to get it all in one. The machines are pretty similar actually, but obviously they have designed strengths in different areas...
looping them together, midi and audio, recording eachother, start with the speck as the creator, mash it up in the RS, back to the speck chop it more.. oh my it could get wild.

No fun :D Just a headache :( with my RS. Takes time to used t it. Getting loops from Machinedrum and sampling it in RS oh bloody hell - terrible! There are 2 reasons - poor sound of MD or shit RS sampler.

There are 2 reasons - poor sound of MD or shit RS sampler

nah, c´mon dude
neither one of them but without offense, a third reason:
i suppose it´s always the mind behind the machines...
often enough i´m not satisfied with the results of my work, but you don´t need to cut yourself an ear off to make it better

and apart from that:
why the hell would one want to sample the machinedrum?
never had one but i guess it´s far better to use the - as i know excellent MD sequencer- parameter locks and creamy stuff alike... yummy
though i would prefer the MonoMachine anytime over the MD.

hm, myself i never liked to use the RS sampler too much exept for some spare vocals or clicks, zirps and zapps and such.

way better is to record the loop from the MD onto your HD as 16bit 44khz wav for arguments sake and then load it into the RS.
there you can still make it be 22khz or 11khz.

nice direct-sampling quality though if you have the AIEBII expansion board and use the digital input as i do sometimes when recording loops or the like first to my MD (MiniDisk) and then back again via coax-
sound is crystalclear.

other people love to use the sampler, taking a loop chopping it up, performing the track divide job to split/spread the chops from one track to different tracks, repitch and timestretch the bejesus out of some dice it with the realtime remix thingy and put some to 11khz to get that gritty crunchy oldschool sound. just a matter of creativity.
slicing won´t do it- you will have to put some work and effort into it, meaning performing fades on the chops to get rid of clicks created through slicing...
you might try to perform the realtime loop within the sample job menu.
it shakes the whole sample itself in a way i never heard before- 80 percent crap, but still...

on a side note: you don´t have to be registered at RSdotorg to be able to read the threads- the RS forum is almost dead anyway.

if you are to desperate feel free to pm me, so perhaps i can walk you thru some issues...and we keep the RS discussion out of the spectralis forum.

but anyway you seem to be having to many (new) machines at once - i´d gladly take one in care...hehe

Fortunately i sold both of them, MD (1100 usd) and RS7k(900 usd) and life became easier. I`m thinking to buy one more Polymorph to make sequences longer with extra instruments. Up to now I can play only 4 parts and have no chance to change instrument or steps in the following morph sequence.

Current setup is now:
Spectralis
Ensoniq TS-12
Ensoniq ASR-10 rack
Alesis Micron (love the arpeggiator -- does it have voices too? I never use'em)
Rhodes Chroma Polaris (half-broken, some of the buttons and sliders don't work, but works well enough to get good sub-bass and sweeps out of)
Moogerfooger LPF
Moogerfooger ringmod
Electrix Filter Factory
Alesis AirFX
Technics flywheel radio receiver
Lexicon Vortex delay
and soon I will have a Health Club Music Switcheroo!
