atm I am using the Speck with a Yamaha TG-55 tone generator for extra synth parts (sequenced with the Speck) and an Ensoniq DP/4 for external effects. All hooked up to an Alesis photon X25 keyboard for midi control, of course all connected through a patchbay.
Of course a Virus or Nordlead would be much better for the extra synths, but the TG-55 have great synth programming capabilities (now easier with midiquest or sounddiver) and awesome sound for its age, a 2nd hand one can be around 100€. I also have a roland mc-909 but i dont use it anymore, cause I don´t like its sound, it´s kind of canned sound (I can´t believe i did many gigs with it in the past  I guess the ppl at the parties was too drunk  )

I wish that I bought an ensoniq DP2/4 instead of a cheap behringer v-verb pro. My old Ensoniq TS 10 had some of the DP algos and I remember that they sounded great and you can controll some of the parameters via control chage.
That stupid behringer is not sounding that bad, but it uses NRPN Messages for realtime parameter changes - something the spectralis cannot send via the stepsequencer. Who on this planet is using NRPN to successfully change FX params in realtime ?

NRPN LOL yhea its like the poor mans cc ...

do hunt a dp4 down if you can, they sound extreamly warm and rich, last forever and are very inexpesif!

at the time ensoniq came out with it, they had Lexicon sweating like a child molester in a 5year old birthday party

Last year I tried to combine Spectralis with:
1. Monomachine/Machinedrum
2. Yamaha SU700
3.Modular A100
4. Quasimidi309
5. etc
No success and no fun.
It`s still standing alone and very selfish. It has to be a master clock not a slave, so far..waiting for 1.0 OS.
I have the following setup/connections:
Future Retro Revolution as a master clock,
midi in Monomachine - it has up to 6 midi tracks and is exellent for sequencing ext Vermona DRM MK3 and A100.
Spectralis? Unfortunately - always on his own..
