dawless jamming (electro)

Postby Jörg Schaaf » Sun Jul 31, 2016 3:08 am

I did some electro beats with samples from my eurorack modular system and the main fat sequence sound with the hybrid synth. As a sidekick I used two Accelerator sounds live and created some FXs with the modular systems. The FX sounds have been fed into a strymon timeline delay and I additional used the Lexicon FXs in my soundcraft signature 22 MTK desk.

I hope you enjoy ;-)

Really nice jam. Watching your monitor speaker protrude outward aggressively is definitely the work of the Spectralis A Synth.

I absolutely am in love with the Spectralis.
This has been proving to be as deep as some higher tech aircraft to wrap brain around navigating, but I call the Spectralis my alien apace ship.

I have a quick question. I now have both an updated Spectralis 1 and a Spectralis 2. I would like to join the monsters into monster twins.
I see that you have a Spec 1 sitting there in your studio still and am betting you have done this a number of times. What's the ideal way to connect -2- Specs?

OK - I must admit, that I never used more than one Spectralis at a time. Sometimes keep it simple is better for an intuitive session than adding more gear. For live situations, a second Spectralis can be a really nice addition as you have no loading times between tracks, if you use always both Spectralis in rotation.
If you really want to use them both, one must be used as a sync master and the other one as a sync slave,in case you want to run both sequencers in sync.
Another opportunity to use one for all the backings and the other one for solos and FXs. That can be really nice, because sounds will not get selected from one pattern to the next. Instead you can play along the whole backing of the first Spectralis with the same sounds or you can select other sounds on the fly without taking care for the patterns of the first.

Using a second Spectralis is for sure bvetter, than syncing any other groovebox ;-)

:D  Thank You!!

What you described are my exact intentions in-use, plus a keyboard synth for playing solo or poly backing.

When the 2 are synced, does that in effect mean that as a sequence moves right 1-16 steps on 1 Spec, the other Spec will do same but with it's own sounds/steps, but if I want to change direction or random on any given Spec, it will not affect the other Spectralis? Independent, but synced in timing/clock?

Lastly, my Spectralis 2 is almost a one of a kind in that all 16 step buttons are black. No red buttons on 1,5,9,13, but I do have the red button for Record button. Looked brand new when obtained, so just wondering if this Spec was customized? I like it.

Thanks again for the very useful info. Only when I feel secure with it will share my experimental Spec on the slab in the lab in music and maybe pics.

Only black keys are a sign of a mistake in the assembling factory....

The Spectralis will run independently - only the song position and and tempo will get synced. So - all lines still can have independent directions, durations, resolutions etc.

Thanks.

That just makes my Spectralis 2 an original. Kind of like an incorrectly minted coin or postage stamp. (I just turned my all black keys into lemonade)
