NO, NO, NO!!

wow, that would make life some much easier - now i always have to have a sheet of paper besides, because the other day i *will* have forgotten
who´s sequencing whom, especially if outboard gear is used with controllerlines almost for every parameter.

even if i stay with the spectralis solo i tend to use sequencerlines for the DSynth (and the drums for special stuff) rather than using its own sequencer-
never fully understood how it works- not counting the steps is a major quirk for me so i hardly use it, same goes for the chord function.
it´s like using the sequencer of my MFBLite II which can sometimes be lovely because of the unpredictable results but isn´t always wanted...

also i love to use more than one line for the same target, to create nice polyrhythms and syncopation stuff- sometimes even to create chords,
because being captured with non editable motifs is not what i´m after.
if this was to be changed, it would be one giant leap.

best
I never learned to properly swim, but I get in the water and splash around, and do just enough to save my life. I will become a better swimmer one day, by spending more time in the water until I get it right.

actually when Target is held down All destinations should blink and the ones with assigned destinations be **sustained** .. this is just to generalize/simplify the complete patch access ... some users might start to experiment with patching the step-seq into things like pan and or motif ... so it be right do distinguish between

*avalible(blinking)
*non-availbe(NO-led)
*Patched(sustained led)

so to be clear: the original default setting (seq lines 1-15) would look like this:
all = sustained leds..
-LPCuttoff
-MM cutoff
-FB level
-Asynth led

All = blinking leds
-6 synth leds,
-the 15 track leds,
-Volume,
-FX1
-FX2

Rest = no light

ok Im done ...need a life..

BUGS and Missing features seam to have their own threads in updates forums and have the highest priority ...so here Ill just concentrate on the fun stuff ;)

so here we are..

Interface
*Patchbay... (place the routing matrix under separate encoders
*Fav Encoder mode ...(x4 assign your favorite controls per pattern under the LCD)
*Shift + turning encoder = fast value/ waveform select
*More frequent blinking (of value being edited)...(for more rapid visual reference)

Arp
*Beat repeater/Fills
*Accent/Velocity patterns
*Offset mode

Drum sequencer

*Revers step... (step reverses sound playback)

Motif sequencer
*Real-time record... (CC, mute & solo)
*Step event editor...(grid editing of notes in motif)
*sample sequencing for drum parts
*real randomizing for drumpart steps (maybe in percent)
*Grid Zoom... (zoom /in out of step location (shift + shuffle)

Missing features

**MMC start in record mode
**Over dub
**Grid mode for chord

Step sequencer

*Function =3 main menus...(hide Shortcuts func+step 1-5 in sub pages)
*Auto-Patch/create ...(Target+Destination)
*Mute/ Solo step seq lines
*Real-time control of last step... (...did someone say mod wheel...or was that shuffle encoder!!!
*Real-time edit of note length...(via shift+encoder per step)
*2nd routing of a step sequence... (to internal part/or midi...

Pattern mode

*Fills per patter
*Pattern playback option...((Instant/ after set length/ or fill
-following this feature is *cue next pattern*

Song mode

*Independent loop-point within the song chain... (to edit/loop part of song
*Real-time pattern change, cc and mute record
*More than 32 pattern per song or option for multiple songs preloaded

*Banks/Presets
*Enable FX controllers as step seq destinations

FB
*Send individual bands to FX
*Filterbank full reset option

Asynth

*POLY mode (4voices

Dsynth
*Loop index option (loop start/ index /end)
*Modulate loop index point... (shorter loop end point for drum samples)
*Dual OSC ability... (enabling sync and ring mod)
*Pitch envelope
*Slow mode in ADSR
*Sample Start point on reverse samples
*Lfo as sample startpoint modulation source...(OR other startpoint algorithms (even if it´s just percent) OR lfo to AD(SR)
lfo as start point mod with LFO restart .could dismiss the wish for Index point and pitch envelope

LFO Section

*Sync to midi
*LFO Key-restart/cycle option

MIDI

*Simultaneous playback of part and MIDI channel... (layering specky sound source with external source)
*midi channel layout independently selectable per TGs and receiving midi channels
(--*External playback triggering for TGs)
(-programming all drum channels at once)

*Force to scale
Missing
**Pattern change /prg change message

OTHER

*Full Blown editor preferably with a import audio editor ability
and a Mac version for all the party blowers...

*Re-SAMPLE
*Rex. support
*Copy/Paste/delete step-seq
*Copy pattern X to pattern x in song X
*FX quick sound function display Name visualization for categorizing with names

dam cant edit ...

*sample sequencing for drum parts
*real randomizing for drumpart steps (maybe in percent)
*Grid Zoom... (zoom /in out of step location (shift + shuffle)

are ment to be in DRum sequencer not Motif seq section...

anyway.... w@ever

Alright now cleaning up the Filter section (menu labeling and aranging)

Filter section p8 & (LP) 9 pages)
p1 Multimode Cutoff Modulation LFO
p2 Multimode :LFO depth Envelope
p3 Multimode Filter Control
p4 Multimode cutoff Modulation
p5Multimode Resonance Modulators
p6 Multimode Output Volumes
p7 Multimode FX sends
p8 Multimode: exponential Filter FM
*LP only) p9 Lopass Lin. Filter FM

are they giving out a synth award for spelling ,,,change the labeling please

the logic is to move 3 pages into sub and rename things better..

under p1: "MM => LFO"...well find LFO EG (currently p2)
under p2: "MM filter Control"... over "Expr" and "Reso"
...well find the the two modulation pages:
Cutoff and Reso .. (p4 and 5 currently) ..

these pages are not used as often as the others in the Main filter page so are usually in the way... it will also give the whole Filter section a quicker /simpler feel... as does the relabeling.. youll need to re-label the "LFO EG depth" a little better.. use "Delay, attack, Decay"..instead of "FmED FmEDa ...etc"
....
so now we have ...
p1 MM => LFO
p2 MM Control
p3 MM => OUT
p4 MM => FX
p5 MM => FM
----
(p6 LP => liner FM

Filter EG section
p1 24db Lowpass Volume Envelope page
p2 Multimode Volume Envelope page
p3 24db Lowpass Cutoff Envelope page
p4 Multimode Cutoff Envelope page

please rename these to more simple:
p1 LP Volume EG
p2 MM Volume EG
p3 LP Cuttoff EG
p4 MM Cutoff EG

multimode usually stand for multitimbral and the labeling in these pages is just not good,.. when looking at the LCD you feel like your looking inside the synth, keeping it simple and the synth will feel simple!

coming up OSC section

VCO
----------------
Multimode filter volume send/feed , use" =>" its easy to understand and you will not need to use words ..just this universal "sign" over everything send or feed...

So place all send pages under "VCOLevel Encoder" ..(currently holding only one page "Filter PAN" ...move "Filter PAN"page to a sub page under "VCA Encoder" VCA level Filter to buss" MM LP FB .= subpage "Filter PAN"
P3 VCO => FB
p4 VCO => MM
p5 VCO => LP
p6 VCO => FX-1
p7 VCO => FX-2
P8 VCO => Main out ...(p9 VCO => Main out PAN...as a sub page for VCO to main, labeled OSC BUS PAN)
+
p23 Noise EG feed
p24 Noise direct feed

these are all the sends/patch matrix under VCA OUT encoder

thats - 9pages form VCO
----------------------------------------
P15 16 17 18 VCO Sync, Glide Keyb, Scaling
Move these pages under Glide Encoder

VCO Glide encoder only has one page
these can be added as "sub pages" if its if its important to the designers to have one direct page to Glide speed

but the quistion is do we need these 4 extra pages
seams like you can find "glide" dirtectlly under glide..and "keyboard scaling" under VCO Tune p3

all thats left is the "Central note" ...we have direct access to Ring and Sync "in p1 waveform subpage 1" we also have direct access to them via buttons

SO can we take these 4 pages and just make 1 "Central note page" and place it in tune where the rest of tuning is located at..thx!

------------------------------------------
and now off to label bitching...

P1 Waveform (00sin 128 Saw 255 rect)
use *POP ups* for (SIN SQU SWU SWD REQ) instead of labeling it on the lcd..just as informative..use these popUps for LFO aswell (shift+encoder = waveform select

the "FM PM modulation page" should have a sub page to directly edit all OSC 1-4 FM & PM (similar to the ADSR sub menus)

p2 Volume EG marco OSC 1-4 ....sub-pages should be labeled VCO EG ADSR...instead of *VCO Volume Envelop Generator Page* ..duno..why on earth...

p11-14 VCO Time Linerity Modulation ...label=: VCO => Tlm
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
p19-22 VCO Crush, Phase, OS4FM,Pitchbend
(Id like to re-design these 4 menus to just two menus

**one Crush page for all OSC 1-4
**one FMDP page for all (OSC 1-4)
**Move "Pmod" from this menu under VCO Detune where the rest of the pitch options are... this would be one page for all OSC1-4

we already have one page for Phase start page "p27 VCO Phase page"
....even add "Phase start" to "waveform sup page1" 4th Encoder.. a handy place .. but to make 4 complete pages here seam like defeting the purpose of conviniance..

aslo move:
**p25 VCO Keyboard Scaling
**p26 VCO velocity Level Scaling

to VCO detune page = where other tuning options are located at,
also
VCO TUNE
**p3 Keyboard pitch scaling
**p4 Pitchbend range corse tune

Id like to see these as sub pages under tune..

and move pitch envelopes to the main page

these would effectively result in 4 main menus/elements for OSC detune
VCA Tune & Glide (9 pages)
p1 Corse tune
p2 Fine Tune
p3 Pitch Envelope....sub page for pitch EG
p4 Central Note (OSC1-4)*** moved from VCO p15-18

5 sub pages for 2 secondary features OR Under Glide

p1 VCO Keyboard Scaling ***moved form OSC section p25
p2 VCO Velocity Level Scaling***moved form OSC section p26
p3 Keyboard pitch scaling and
p4 Pitchbend range corse tune
p5 PMOD OSC1-4 ***moved form OSC section p19-22

Id actually like VCO Tune & Glide to carry these pages togeather as these are all related to pitch and tune..

SO after this clean up we have:
VCO Wave (11 pages)
p1 Waveform
p2 VCO Volume EG Marco ....sup pages labeled VCO EG ADSR..
p3 VCO Volume EG Bypass
p4-8 VCO =>Tlm
P9 Crush (OSC1-4)
P10 FMDept (OSC1-4).....
11 VCO start Phase 0=free-running

we just went from 27 pages to 11!! and we have organized it so only things that have to do with the OSC are placed here..(you even have room to bring the FM?PM into the main page as we have two encoders to surf these pages

VCA OUTPUT (Patch matrix) 8pages

P1 VCO => FB
p2 VCO => MM
p3 VCO => LP
p4 VCO => FX-1
p5 VCO => FX-2
P6 VCO => Main Bus (sub page here: VCO Bus PAN
p7 Noise => EG
p8 Noise => Direct

combined with Sub pages for bypass EG LP MM under EG release button

we have now
-Entire Patch matrix under **VCA OUT
-Everything tune and pitch under **VCO TUNE & GLIDE
-Everything OSC shape under OSC WAVE & Marco
and eliminated 5 pages in the prosess...

up next "something very groovy...
