Reset fail

Postby rbhall7ice » Fri Feb 26, 2016 1:37 am

Again today it needed reboot (after off since yesterday)
-is this a reset failure and is it curable?
could it have to do with not being used for a long time.
Yesterday did the box cutter right after 171 upgrade and experienced samples not loading.
-Thanks

Just as a background. The Spectralis has a reset controller. That is a chip that measures the supply voltage and waits some miliseconds after stability has been reached and sends than a reset to the MCU. If that chip has a failure, the reset works as bad as without the reset controller. Especially when the unit was off for a while the loading of all these bypass capacitors has to be done on startup, the reset occurs before the MCU had the chance to start correctly. In that case, you maybe need multiple tries to start the engine. What you see in the display then is the test mode of the frontpanel.

Thanks Joerg again for your time - It has started fine the last two time (one with 4 hours off and again with 12 hours off)
Also have not experienced test mode so to conclude - I'll live with it - and i do remember in the past sometimes it not starting up right but that was a few updates back in time.
Thanks again for all the awesome attention your baby is getting recently.
