iPad template for RT Accelerator!

Postby acemonvw » Sat Jan 14, 2017 5:51 am

Hello everyone,

Now updated to VERSION V2!

I have made an iPad template using MIDI Designer Pro 2 and want to share it with you. This took about 2-3 weeks to make with a LOT of beta testing. If you've been hoping for an iPad app for the Accelerator, look no further.

MIDI Designer Pro 2 DOES cost money, but the app works well and there is a lite version you can test the template using.

Incredible - your devotion to RT stuff is something else.
The accelerator is amazing imo- why can't someone like sweetwater carry it?
I'll probably have to finally buy an ipad now..
Xcellent work-

Thanks :)

I spent the entire day re-working the layout I made so it's more user friendly. Quite excited, though I don't know how many people will use it. It's still fun!

I think RT stopped making the Accelerator for a while, which would explain why you can't get them. I see them occasionally pop up on eBay.

I guess this means it's as good a time as any to try to showcase its sound. Maybe creating a bigger demand will help increase potential sales?

Thank you so much! This is great!
Sorry if I'm asking, I didn't know about the existence of Midi Designer;
so if I want to edit the Accelerator using your fabulous layout I need an Ipad, Midi Designer Pro 2, your layout and a cable to connect the Ipad to the Accelerator, right?
What kind of cable I need? And which Ipad has the minimum system requirement needed?
Thank you very very very much!

Hi Gimborano,

Yes, to get this all working, you need an iPad, Midi Designer, an iPad to MIDI device.

You COULD use Midi designer lite (I think it's called), which is the free version - at least that would let you test whether you have it all working or not. However, this version has a bar that takes up half the screen - a ploy to get you to buy the full app (it's worth it though!). Now, if you want to use everything (such as the mod matrix), you'd need to also purchase the in app purchase for 'extras'. Honestly, it's a great editor and hopefully you've watched the two videos I posted about it. If you have more specific questions and want to see how something works, let me know, I can go over it in a video. I think the app plus the IAP costs about $30 total? So, I'd highly recommend testing the free app out first!

To connect the iPad to the Accelerator:
I have the Griffin StudioConnect - but I feel like it's not the best device. If you unplug the iPad while the device is on, you'll hear a high-frequency whining from it.

There's also the iRig MIDI and a bunch of other devices. Just look into them - I'm not sure if they also charge the iPad, something that I think is a nice feature if it does (the Griffin does).
